METALLICA: Video Of New Song From DOWNLOAD Festival Posted Online
June 13, 2006An audience-shot, amateur video clip of METALLICA performing an as-yet-untitled new song during their headlining appearance Saturday (June 10) at the Download festival at Donington Park, Leicestershire, England has been posted online at YouTube.com.
As has been the case with all the previous concerts on the band's current European tour, METALLICA played their entire 1986 album, "Master of Puppets", during the Download show, including rarely performed tracks such as "Orion" and "Disposable Heroes". The concert's second encore also featured a rendition of the MISFITS classic "Die, Die My Darling", with members of TRIVIUM and other bands joining in on vocals.
"Master of Puppets" came out in the spring of 1986 and was METALLICA's first gold album and mainstream success. It featured staples of the band's live set such as "Battery", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and the title track.
It was also the last METALLICA album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed later that year in a tour bus crash.
METALLICA will head back into the studio to resume work on their ninth studio effort after completing this summer's festival run.
